Dalai Lama Teaching Update for July in Ladakh

July 20 2010: (tentative date) His Holiness will give teachings (topic yet to be decided) in Bodhkharbu, Kargil on July 20.

July 22 -23 & July 26 - 27, 2010: (tentative dates) His Holiness will give teachings in Sumur & Disket Monasteries in Nubra Valley (topics yet to be decided).

There is no visit to Leh or Zanskar planned in 2010.

Feb 8, 2010 Fresh Snowfall in Naddi, Dharamsala!

Residents of Naddi, Mcleodganj, and all of upper Dharamsala awoke this morning to fresh snowfall just outside their windows.

Roads are currently closed due the heavy snowfall, but are expected to open again within 10 days.

Feb 6 - 9 Himachal Pradesh: Heavy Rain, Snow, & Hailstorms Forecast

Heavy rain, snow, and hail are forecast for Himachal Pradesh over the weekend from February 6 to 9.

Tourists are advised not to travel to high altitudes or remote areas of the state due to the expected heavy snowfall.

The expected storms are good news for farmers as the region has experienced a prolonged dry spell with January temperatures at their warmest in 6 years.

Fresh Snow on the Himalayan Dhauladhar Mountains

Fresh snow fell overnight on the mountains above Naddi and Mcleodganj in upper Dharamsala.

Early morning conditions are cloudy and overcast, so the mountains are currently obscured.

More rain is forecast for the area tonight, which means more snow on the Dhauladhars, and the potential for snow in Naddi.

There is snow on the Himalayan ranges above Dharamsala, but so far this January, no snow has fallen at Naddi and Mcleodganj.

Last winter, no snow fell in January or February, but the winter this year is much colder, so there is still an opportunity for snow this season.
