Even with a worldwide itinerary of public talks and teachings, the schedule of His Holiness the Dalai Lama always includes several teachings each year in Dharamsala.

If you would like to attend the teachings of the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, register at the Tibetan Branch Security Office in McLeod Ganj (near Hotel Tibet), several days before the teachings begin. To register, bring 2 passport size photos along with your passport. The teachings are free and open to the public.

Spring Teachings 2010
The annual monlan, or spring teachings, given at the Main Tibetan Temple, traditionally begin on the 16th day of the 1st Tibetan month which falls in February or March.

August 28 - 29, 2010: His Holiness will give two-day teachings on The Diamond Sutra (dorjee chotpa) at the request of a group of Koreans.

September 8 - 10, 2010: His Holiness will give three-day teachings on The Heart Sutra (sherab nyingpo) & Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo's 37 Practices of A Bodhisattva (gyalsey laklen sodunma) at the request of a group of Southeast Asians.

October 4 - 7, 2010: His Holiness will give four-day teachings on Nagarjuna's The Fundamental Wisdom Treatise on the Middle Way (uma tsawai sherab), Atisha's Lama for the Path to Enlightenment (jangchup lamdron), Tsongkhapa's In Praise of Dependent Origination (tendrel toepa) & Tsongkhapa's Concise Stages for the Path to Enlightenment (lamrim dudon) at the request of a group of Taiwanese.

November 30 - December 2, 2010: His Holiness will give three-day teachings (topic yet to be decided) at the request of a group of Russian Buddhists. Contact Website: www.khurul.ru & www.savetibet.ru

Dalai Lama Teaching Schedule in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India

Winter: His Holiness often visits Bodh Gaya and some Tibetan settlements in south India where he regularly gives teachings. Empowerments and Initiations are often given during his teachings throughout the year, however, His Holiness stresses the importance of attending teachings in order to better understand the philosophy of Buddhism.

Dalai Lama Teaching in Ladakh, J & K, India

July 19, 2010: His Holiness will give a teaching in Bodhkharbu, Kargil (topic yet to be decided).

July 21 - 22, 2010: His Holiness will give teachings in at Samstanling Monastery in Sumur (Nubra Valley). (topics yet to be decided).

July 23, 2010: His Holiness will give the oral transmission of The Diamond Sutra (dorje chotpa) at Yarma Gonbo Monastery (Nubra Valley).

July 25, 2010: His Holiness will lead the blessing ceremony (rabney) of the new Maitreya Statue at Disket Monastery (Nubra Valley).

July 26 - 27, 2010: His Holiness will give teachings from The Ornament of Clear Realization by Maitreya and its Commentary by Haribadra (ngontok gyen thang drelpa donsel nyi drak ne shaytri) at Disket Phodrang.

There is no visit to Leh or Zanskar planned in 2010.

Dalai Lama Teaching in Jispa, H.P, India

August 18 - 20, 2010: His Holiness will give teachings on Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (jangchup lamdron) on August 18. On August 19 he will confer the Heruka (dechok) Initiation. On August 20 he will confer the Avalokiteshvera (chenresig) Initiation.

Manali, India

August 22, 2010: His Holiness will give a 1/2 teaching on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo's 37 Practices of A Boddhisattva (laklen sodunma) in Manali.

Talk in Kochi, Kerala, India

September 4, 2010: His Holiness will deliver the inaugural address at the 33rd World Congress of the International Association for Religious Freedom being held at the Catholic Renewal Center, Ernakulam, Kochi. Contact Website: www.iarf.net

Conference in New Delhi, India

November 19 - 21, 2010: His Holiness will participate in Mind & Life XXII on Contemplative Science: The Scientific Investigation of the Effects of Contemplative Practices on Human Biology and Behavior. Contact Website: www.mindandlife.org

Sarnath, India 2011

January 12 - 16, 2011: His Holiness will give five-day teachings on Shantideva’s A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life (chodjug) & Kamalashila’s The Middling States of Meditation (gomrim barpa). The teachings will be held near the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies.
